On Demand
Why is it the very thing most people in the western world actually want to spend money on, no one seems to be all that bothered about releasing a service that isn't half baked?
I'm talking about on demand films, movies, DVDs!!!
We DEMAND it NOW, not in 30 mins nor in 2 mins, how is that so damn hard to fathom? A great many of us wouldn't mind paying £10-15p/m to give us unlimited DVD rentals why not unlimited streaming films. I'm not talking about the old classics that you can download for free over at
archive.org either; I'm talking about the current new releases that are out on the cinema.
This is a major annoyance I have just now, simply because all the technology required is already in place to do this. You need only look toward examples currently running, like the
Discovery Channel here in the UK £35p/annum gets you unlimited access to the shows they have online (although not everything is there).
Why can't I get this just now for the film rentals? Our local grocery shop does a small (piss poor) selection of dvds for rent, but doesn't have any of the films I may be interested, nor even the latest releases because the bigger companies get those first.
I want:
- Movie Streaming (Don't need to worry as much about pirating that they are so fond of just now)
- Realistic Price Tag (£10-15 p/m, not $10 per film, I'd rather buy the dvd for that)
- Unlimited Access (no crappy 4 films a month)
- Latest Releases (I'd live with DVD and Cinema releases)
- Able to play the films through the TV
Unfortunately I know it's just not going to happen, not until we re-establish the purpose of Corporations. Being driven by short sighted profit goals where everything is patented in that pursuit, everything becomes about the bottom line and not about Public Service from which they were originally intended.
